WARM SUGAR

Evan and Jenny crossed paths in the fall of 2016 thanks to a few mutual friends who engineer at East Austin’s finest recording studio—fittingly named Sweetheart Studios. They formed Warm Sugar after discovering their mutual love for Doug Kershaw, R.L. Burnside, Nina Simone, Bob Dylan, and many others.

Their songs sound like they were conjured from embers of despondency to bestow solace upon those listening with aching hearts. Warm Sugar’s honest and bare-bones approach shines through their rich harmonies and breaks down the uncomfortable barrier that sometimes exists between an artist and audience.

Matt Gerhard (lap steel, lead guitar), Vince Delgado (upright & electric bass), and Michael Peters (drums) are all new additions. This former duo is on it’s way to achieving every minimalist’s dream of maximum sound. Warm Sugar is that slice of homemade apple pie you forgot about… The one you remembered after a hit of that sweet sativa you left sitting in a perfect pile on top of that Waylon sleeve lying next to your bed. The only plausible move is to sink your teeth in. Served best with whiskey, hazelnut, ice cream, and somebody by your side.

They are currently working toward releasing their first LP, recorded by Doug Walseth (David Dondero, Wil Cope, Christy Hays) at his home analog studio, The Cat’s Eye, in Austin, TX. It is being mixed and mastered by Joey and Jimmy Wildcat at Sweetheart Studios on E 4th St.
