$10 AT THE DOOR

From the piney woods of East Texas to the flat lands outside Lubbock, from the rolling prairies of Central Texas to the sandy shores of the Virgin Islands, Gabe Wootton has covered more than a few miles. With an eye on the horizon and an ear in the wind, he has found melody in the mundane and rhyme in the hum of life. A sketch of scenes in passing, character studies of the broken and the jubilant, triumphant tales of ruin to joyful lamentations of woe, Gabe’s songs run the gamut incorporating elements of all the music he has stumbled upon throughout his life.

TONY MANARD

I am an observer of the human condition. I am a teller of tales, and a singer of songs. I am a family sized bucket of deep fried contradictions and dirty jokes. I like most dogs, and some people. I have spent my entire life in the capitol of North Mississippi, Memphis. My friend Libby says I speak in jailhouse tattoos (full disclosure, I have never been incarcerated). I guess it makes the bio awkward, but I don’t speak about myself in the third person. I wouldn’t mind but there is no third person, there is me, and for the sake of art I would like to keep this mostly honest. I am married. I have two children and three dogs. I answer my own messages, and write my own songs. I’m not young, attractive or cool. I probably should have had someone else write this.

On to the facts. I am Memphis born and raised. I am active in the songwriting community here. I have played guitar in bands, worked as a stage hand, television engineer, cable guy, bingo card seller, and once as a pyrotechnics man for a rodeo. I’m a third generation (that I know of) bullshitter. I have collected stories and characters my whole life. My folks were teachers. I have been married forever, had kids too young, got them grown and am now resuming questionable behaviors. In Memphis I play with a few friends every Tuesday night (when I’m home) at a downtown bar called Belle Tavern. I also play occasionally with “The Big Ole Band” at venues in town. I typically go solo on the road. I got a guitar, a head full of songs and stories, a fairly reliable mini van and a wife that mostly keeps me out of trouble. I would love to come share some songs and laughs with you!
